A horse shaped by the Franche-Comté...

The cradle of the race is situated on the plateau of Maîche ( Doubs) in the heart of the Jura mountains between forests of fir trees, meadows and traditional villages from Franche-Comté.

This area with pronounced relief and rigorous climate shaped this rustic, resistant and powerful horse, the breeding of which gradually extended in all the Franche-Comté. Today, we find breeding in Alsace, in Burgundy, and in all the mountains: Massif Central, Pyrenees and the Alps. Besides, its success is such as numerous subjects were exported in Spain, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
